One of the most difficult things about going back to college is that you have to leave your dog(s). I have loved this summer because I spent it with my family and of course my furry best friend. Dogs are such a crucial part of my life and my dog is very important to me. I can not stress enough how much of a dog person I really am. So this is my tiny little thank you that I wish my dog could read.
Thank you for always greeting me with your loud barks, sloppy spit and jumping on me until I finally bend down to pet you.
Thank you for loving me no matter what I say, do, think and especially when I forgot to let you back in the house after sending you out to potty.
Thank you for throwing up, peeing or pooping in the house and then hiding all day so you won't get in trouble with me.
Thank you for trying to protect me from every single friend, swan man or other guest that we have approach the house. Even though I yell at you to be quiet, the gesture is appreciated.
Thank you for not chewing up my bras, shoes or any other item you can possibly think of that mom's dog loves to do.
Thank you for cuddling with me whenever I need it or giving me kisses just because. For allowing me to come home from a long day of work or be super stressed and let you make me feel better.
Thank you for stabbing me with your paws until I pay attention to you or scratch your ears or belly.
Thank you for allowing me to depend on you to always be there when I come home and to come wake me up in the morning by licking my face.
Thank you for playing outside with me or being my snake catcher whenever I am scared to walk outside.
Thank you for bonding with me and allowing me to talk to you like you are a two year old baby.
Thank you for making me watch you extra careful in the yard so you don't run off. You are actually really good about obeying and not wandering away from the house.
Thank you for never running away or getting out and making me chase you around the neighborhood for hours balling.
Thank you for allowing me to call you by three different names and always responding and knowing that I was calling you.
Most of all, thank you for loving me and for letting me love you.
Having a dog is more than taking care of an animal, it is adding another member to your family. Dogs can do so much for you whether its your dog from home or one you bought in college to keep you company. There is something special about dogs that you can't really get with another other pet. They deserve so much love and appreciation that it is unreal. I could not live life the way I do without my dog. He will be there for me until the end, he never disappoints me and I can always count on his love.Love and cherish your dogs every second of every day or as much as you can. They won't be with you forever so let's make them memorable while they are with us.
Mommy loves you Ferdinand, Ferd, Fred (Yes I call him all three.)
