Dear 17-Year-Old Lexi,
Hello you, or should I say, me? Oh man, this is going to be fun to write.
How are you doing back in, what is it, 2011? I know that you’re probably wondering if you made it as far as you thought you would. Well, you did, and I’m going to be honest with you: it wasn't easy. But you still had fun along the way.
Right now, I'm writing to you from Reno. That's right, you made it to your first choice school, the school that you wanted to go to even before you started filling out all those college applications. Some people didn’t think that it was going to be a good choice at first, since you wouldn’t be moving that far from home and not "taking the risk to move out of state," but you proved them wrong and showed them that your school is the greatest school to attend. You pushed through the tough classes and professors, and you even got a job at The Joe! Now you’re a year away from graduating. Don’t worry about what’s to come after, though. You have plenty of time.
Remember how you would fangirl over that one group? You still do? No surprise there . You’re still the same fangirl that you were at the beginning of it all. Nothing has changed. I’m not even exaggerating, there. Absolutely nothing has changed. You still scream over these boys, and you still attend every tour. You even traveled out of the state of Nevada to see them, twice. I’m not even going to get into detail about how much money you spent, but let’s just say that it was enough to pay for two three-credit classes. To be fairly honest, it was worth it.
You’ll also be happy to know that after having your learner’s permit for three years, you finally got your license after having to rely on other people for rides and watching your friends go by showing off their licenses and their cars. Speaking of cars, you got one of those, too! You can ride around Reno in style now - I mean, with soul! Your car is your baby. Cherish it, take care of it, keep it clean, and make sure it has enough food (gas).
Lastly, I want you to know that you’ve grown up, not just with age, but with wisdom and maturity. You’ve rid yourself of all the bad vibes that were bringing you down senior year. You made a promise to yourself that you weren’t going to let anything stop you from achieving your goals, you decided that these changes were going to help you become a stronger person, and stronger is what you’ve become. You’re still the same Lexi, just with a few tweaks here and there.
Love always,
21-Year-Old Lexi
P.S. You made it to 21!
