Dear Mrs. Claus,
I can only imagine how busy you are at this time of the year. I’m sure you’re spending overtime in the shop preparing bows, ribbons, and packaging, let alone all the cooking you do for the elves. I know your husband is working long hours as well to ensure the happy arrival of Christmas to everyone. I would love it if you could tell me what his favorite cookies are for me to set out. If you have any special recipes for any of his favorite treats, please send them to me. I think it’s no secret that your good cooking has made him so jolly and overweight.
What attracted you to Mr. Claus when you two first met? Did he have a nice beard back then? I’m sure the two of you have lovely sleigh ride dates, especially after the craziness of the Christmas season. I can envision both of you gazing out at the beautifully fallen snow blanketing the hills outside your lodge as you hear your husband crack a terrible joke, but you smile and laugh anyway because you love him. I know that no one can quite bring a smile to Mr. Claus’s face like you can. Also, I’m just curious, how many years of marriage are the two of you coming up on?
I feel that you, Mrs. Claus, do not receive enough recognition during the holiday season. Your husband and his reindeer tend to steal the spotlight, but what would they be without you? You help to prepare them for their long journey and make sure they are all well fed. You kindly settle any squabbles that would arise among the elves amidst the stress of their work before Mr. Claus finds out who he has to scold. You also help to calm your husband down when he starts to feel overwhelmed by the demands of the season. Overall, you’re the cheerleader for Mr. Claus and the elves, you feed them incredibly well and you’re their emotional support.
Mrs. Claus, you teach all of us how necessary it is to support our loved ones and establish good relationships with them, especially when they need it the most. You exemplify the qualities of gentleness, perseverance and understanding. Behind the scenes, you embody the true spirit of the Christmas season. This letter is meant to thank you for that. I feel it’s important for all of us to recognize the “Mrs. Clauses” in our lives, be they mothers, grandmothers, aunts or just good friends. Mr. Claus sure got it right when he proposed to you all those years ago.
So I’m wishing you a joyful holiday season full of laughter, smiles and a successful Christmas Eve night for your husband. You help to make Christmas what it is, and it would be a very different holiday without you, since Mr. Clause wouldn’t have his much needed support.
Well, I’ll let you get back to your work! I think the elves need your assistance now. Here’s to a happy holiday season to you and the hope of many more years to come. Merry Christmas, Mrs. Claus!
P.S. - How’s Buddy the Elf doing? Did he cram a bunch of cookies into the VCR machine again? Also, please hope the weather gets a bit colder down here. I want a white Christmas!
