A Letter To Those I Haven't Seen In A While

I'm sorry for not being around...

A Letter To Those I Haven't Seen In A While

Life takes us a million directions. Still, that is never an excuse to forget about someone or completely leave them in the past. Sure if that relationship or friendship is toxic or abusive, you should definitely cut them loose and move on with your life. But to stop talking to someone because its convenient to or because life happens is sad.

Okay, let me step back for a second. There are things like moving, tragedy or even raising a family that are valid excuses for being out of touch for so long. But have you ever thought about getting in touch with one of those old friends? Have you ever thought about the joy it might bring to them?

I want to take a second to say I'm sorry to each and every one of you out there who I have either hurt or neglected to speak to in a while. I'm sorry. Life is crazy and moves fast, but that will not change the impact you all have had on my life. Now, I know I can't make up for lost time. Nor can I sit and have coffee with each and every one of you (because let's face it, I'd probably have to live at that coffee shop) but I can say that I'm here for you.

You will always have a friend in me. Though life isn't going to stop for me, understand that I will try my best to try to connect with you. I promise that I will be that friend for you. I may not always be able to physically be with you, but know that I am always a phone call or text message away.

Know that I do love and care about each and every one of you and that it breaks my heart the amount of time I've let the silence go between us. The amount of days, months and even years I've gone not seeing or talking to some of you brings tears to my eyes. Know that I'm striving to be a better friend than I was to you in the past.

I may not be perfect, but I can honestly say I am striving to be the best person I can be. The person God has called me to be. St. Catherine of Siena once said, "Be who you were meant to be and you will set the world on fire." I challenge each and every one of you to reach out to one or more people in your life that maybe you haven't seen or spoken to in a while. If each and every one of us strives to be the person God has created us to be, we will see the world on fire.

We can make the world a better place one person at a time. So remember that I'm here for you. I love you all and am praying for you. So please, don't be a stranger.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
