Dear Millennials,
It's okay. I know that it may seem frightening now, but I'm sure it'll all work out. What am I talking about? Only the election, of course. I'm one of you. Nineteen, blind to the world, still trying to figure it all out. A conservative republican with liberal social views. This was my first election, too, and the conditions weren't ideal. But, I exercised my right, and voted regardless.
The outcome isn't what we dreamed. We now have this daunting figurehead and his frustrating policies to deal with for the next four years. The things he has said are revolting and his attitude is the same. However, we must learn to live with our new reality. Hear me out.
Fighting and hate speech isn't going to solve anything. The constant bickering is only causing more of an uproar than what was originally expected. Peaceful protesting is one thing, but slandering hate speech is another.
This is a time where now more than any, we need to band together and spread love, peace and positivity. Not hate. This is a time where we must protect our LGBT, colored and Muslim family with love. Do you hear what your screaming out there? Love Trumps Hate! Believe that.
Slanderous speech isn't what we want. We want to empower one another. From a political standpoint, my beliefs didn't fit in with either candidate. But if we are evaluating each other based on who we voted for, what are we really doing? Jumping to conclusions, that's what. Blindly, you don't know the way a person feels unless they express their feelings.
So, I say to you, millenials, we must badn together and fight the hate, not endorse it. Love trumps hate.
