Dear Life Giver (AKA Mom),
Let me start by saying Happy Birthday Week! I would just say Happy Birthday, but I do not know when exactly this will get published. Congratulations on making another year’s worth of memories. You may think you have reached the point where you are the same age every year, but I know what age you really are because I am getting older too.
I guess it makes the most sense to start at the beginning. You have literally been in my life since day one. I could not have been born without you. Not only have you been in my life, but you have also played a big part in it.
I know that raising the boys and I was not an easy task, but we are all really thankful that you did. You did the best job you could have, and I think we turned out alright (Of course, I have turned out the best though).
I could have done without three brothers though, like a sister would have been nice. I guess it means I got to be your favorite child though because I am the only girl (#princess). So that is cool.
You took me to my first concert and a few more after that. I love those once in a lifetime experiences. Even though we have seen Garth several times, I still value it. These are the sort of things I will remember when I am old and gray.
You have supported me in all my endeavors, and you are my biggest fan.Whether my ideas are the wise or not, you have always let me try to discover my own path.
You have always been filled with advice and listened when I needed it.
I can say without a doubt that I would not be who I am today if it weren’t for you.
You have always pushed me to test my limits and let me dream big.
You take care of me when I need you and sometimes even when I do not.
We are very different people, but we are also similar. You love golf and softball, while I think those are two of the most boring things in the world. However, you are a teacher, and I am working towards becoming one.
You taught me what chores and responsibility were, which gave me a work ethic.
This house can get a little wild sometimes with so many people and pets running about so I would like to take this moment to thank you for not running away. Because we both know if I were you, I would take a week vacation at least once a year.
You always have my back when I need you.
Even when I am away at college, I call you every once in a while to catch up and see what is going on. I know you will pick up the phone and if you cannot, you will call me back as soon as you can.
We are both living in this crazy world, but that is okay because we are in it together and have been, for me at least, since day one.
Love you to the moon and back,
Your Only Daughter/Favorite Child/Best Friend
