To My Future Employer, I'm Doing Things My Way

Jobs are tricky. The application process, the interviews and just overall making sure that I am doing the best job that I can.

Currently, I work two jobs and I learn a lot each and every day. Both of these jobs are preparing me for the future in one way or another. But for my future employer, I have a few words for you.

I am going to make sure that I am one of the hardest working employees that you have. I am going to show up early and be there late because if it is something that I am passionate about, I will put my whole heart into it.

I am going to ask questions. You may get annoyed with some of the things that I ask, but I am only trying to better myself.

I am going to keep it real. I am not one to sugar coat things when there is a chance of hurting somebody's feelings. In the workforce, we are all adults and need to treat each other like them.

But, I will not kiss your ass to move up. I hate that society basically states that it is okay for somebody not as qualified can get a position over somebody else simply because they kiss up to their boss.

I believe in working hard for what you want and not trying to please the boss every time.

There will be times when trying to move up the totem pole that people are going to get mad. But that is okay. I am going to work hard and move up the way that I feel is appropriate. I am still going to respect those above me, but I will not let them control me.

So to my future employer, I am sorry. I am sorry that I am going to do things my own way. I am sorry that I will not wait on you hand and foot. I am sorry that I am going against the norm.

Well, actually I'm not.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
