To my dogs,
I am completely and utterly in love with you. Anyone who knows me knows that I have an unhealthy obsession with you two balls of fur. I'm physically unable to walk past you and not stop and pet you for at least 5 minutes, leading to numerous forgotten tasks.
Coming home to you is easily one of my favorite things in the whole world. I know you've been looking through the window for a solid hour with your eyes locked on the driveway, waiting for my car to appear. When I step through the door, you never cease to make me feel like Beyonce being bombarded by crazy fans. Thank you for allowing me to experience a few short moments of fame. If I'm having a bad day, I can always rely on you two to cheer me up within seconds of walking through the door. My heart breaks a little every time I leave the house and I see those two very concerned looks on your faces, thinking I'm never coming back. Here's a secret: I'm always coming back. Here's another secret: you can truly get away with anything, just don't tell Dad I said that. Even though you've been known to chew through my socks or claim my favorite stuffed animals as your own, it's impossible for me to stay mad at those cute little faces. You're lucky you're cute.
We have an understanding that I won't tell Mom and Dad about you eating the other dog's food if you won't tell them that I let you lick my ice cream bowl when I'm finished or that I let you sit on the couch when Mom and Dad aren't home. Now that I think of it, you're basically my siblings. You steal my stuff, watch tv with me, share food with me, comfort me when I'm upset, even get mad at me when I give the other dog more attention. I don't just have one brother, I have three. We're not a family of 4, we're a family of 6. We have an unspoken bond that I couldn't share with any other animal. You two have made my life so much fun and brought so much joy to my life that I will be forever grateful. Nothing compares to the love of a dog and I've been lucky enough to have experienced this love three times throughout my life.
You guys have taught me so much. I've learned that sometimes it's okay to just eat and sleep all day and to make my own fun. You've taught me that when loved ones come home, you greet them. You've taught me to get back up after falling down, move on, and that it's always best to end every day with a snuggle. You are big furry bundles of joy and I couldn't ask for better life companions and teachers.
Thank you for being the best cuddle buddies, pillows, brothers, and best friends a girl could ever ask for.
Sincerely,
Your sister
