An Open Letter To My Amazing Dad

Hey Dad,

I bet you never thought you would have a published article online about you, but life is full of surprises. Ever since I was little, you have always pushed me to the best I can be. From softball to school speeches, you were always by my side to help me be the best I could be. All of my school projects were always so well made because you were always there to help me with my crafts. Sorry mom, if you're reading this, crafts definitely were not your strong suit.

From elementary school to now, you were always my greatest motivator. Although we butt heads often on topics, it is because I have become just as stubborn and argumentative as you, because I learned from the best! But, if I am being honest, you have made me into the person I am today. You have taught me how to be smart and successful in school and in life and I am eternally grateful for the things you have taught me throughout my life.

Thank you for teaching me how to be smart with my money, that is honestly one of the most important things in life. Although I do not have that much money in my life right now, as I get older I know that the tips and skills I have learned through you will help me more than anything.

Thank you for pushing me to see my life potential in sports and school. I always want to make you proud and working hard to see you happy means the world to me. Although I may have fought you on it, there are many things in life I wouldn't have done if you didn't push me to be my best.

Thank you for showing me what it is like to be loved and cared about by a man. Although I have been in a five and a half year relationship and you may think you're losing your little girl to another man, I would not still be with him if he didn't love me the way you have loved me my whole life.

Thank you for always believing me when I didn't even believe in myself. I do not know where I would be without you or mom. Thank you for everything you do for me. There is so much more I could include in this article but just know that I love you so much.

I just want you to know that everything I do is for you. All I want in life is to make you proud.

Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
