Dear Big,
Most people tell you that bid day is the best day of the year, but I would have to disagree. Yes, getting my bid to become a member of Chi Omega was super exciting and rewarding, but getting you was better.
A big is someone you are supposed to go to with all of your concerns. They are there to show you the ins and outs, and do's and don'ts of your sorority. A big will guide you and protect you in all social situations and make sure you are able to make it home after a night of partying. People on the outside looking in don't always understand the significance of a big. I was guilty of that too but now that I have a big here is what I would like to say to her...
First of all, I want to say thank you to my big. Thank you for spoiling me and loving me. I appreciate all of the amazing gifts you gave me during big/little reveal and for showering me with your love. I know it is still recent since we became big/little but my love for you is already unconditional. I look up to you as someone I aspire to be. You carry yourself in such a way that makes you my biggest role model. Thank you for listening to my stories and for holding my hand the entire time through Scarowinds as I screamed. Thank you for texting me when I wake up in the morning and right before I go to sleep at night. Thank you for encouraging me to study and believing in me. Thank you for letting me borrow your clothes and for doing my hair and makeup. I cannot wait to be your best friend and partner in crime. Thank you for taking care of me at parties and making sure I am home safe.
I promise to be the best little and support you in all that you do. You already make me so proud, and I will always be someone you can talk to. I’m so appreciative that you have taken me under your wing and are showing me the ropes of such a well regarded organization. I get excited to think about our future together as big and little and to just become closer over time. We are similar in so many ways and I can’t wait for more memories with you. You are all I could ever want in a big and I will love you forever.
And to all of the other bigs out there, thank you for creating such a fabulous tradition in sororities across the nation. I am speaking on behalf of all littles when I say we could not survive with out you, we only want to be the best and we hope that you realize how very much we love you!
Xoxo,
Little
