An Open Letter To My Best Friend's Future Husband
Laney Reason

Dear sir,

I met my best friend on a hot summer day in July of 2011. I knew instantly she would become one of the most important people in my life. I knew she lived 2,000 miles away and that we would not see each other often, but I also knew I had to have her in my life and I plan on having her forever.

As I mentioned earlier, she is one of the most important people in my life and I know you will be one of the most important people in her life. I hope that you will keep her happy and never let her beautiful smile fade. I hope you can make her happy by simply being in her life, but I also hope that you will do more than that.

I hope you never make her cry... I mean it. She is not an emotional person, she doesn't like to cry in front of anyone. She may be tiny, but she is tough. However, she is not made of stone and she does have feelings. She will put up with a lot of trauma, but she won't do it forever. If you do make her cry, please just hold her. Give her grace and tell her how much you love her.

I hope you live close to us... I've spent years away from her; knowing that she isn't just around the corner to come take care of me when I'm having a hard time is really tough. I love when she is home because I know I can just call her and she'll show up at 3 a.m. to make sure everything is OK. We love spending time together and would love being closer to each other.

I hope you don't tear her away from me... She is my very best friend and I don't think I could ever be without her for good. We don't fight often, we tell each other what is best, we are honest with each other. Nothing has come between us in the last five years we've been friends and I pray that you're not the first.

I hope you make her smile... If you're anything like her, this should be a breeze. She's one of the most bubbly, giggly people I've ever known and her laugh is contagious. She likes to laugh about farts and "Pitch Perfect," so please keep these things in mind.

I hope you are patient... This is probably one of the more important things. You have to be patient with her, she takes her time on every thing. Whether she's getting ready for a night out or making a big career decision, she always takes her time and thinks things through thoroughly.

I hope you aren't shy... She is by no means a shy person. She once jumped on me in the middle of the street at a restaurant and as we were spinning she said,"I need fart!" Then we fell into a heap of laughter. She is not afraid to tell you how she feels or what you just felt through the cushion. If you're shy, you won't be for long.

I hope you don't mind our friendship... Our friendship involves many weird quirks. We know every word to "Pitch Perfect" and have to watch it every time we're together. We are obsessed with Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" (actually, just Miley Cyrus in general). We love grapes and playing pranks. So be prepared for that last one. We aren't your normal best friends, we're two-of-a-kind.

I hope I'm not asking too much from you, but this is my best friend we're talking about, and I do have a lot of say in whether you stay or go, so I suggest you at least take some of my pointers and put them to good use. However, there's one thing that I hope and pray more than anything..

I hope you love her as much as I do... Listen, I love this girl. She makes my entire world go 'round. She makes me smile, laugh and cry. I can only ask that you give her love when I no longer can. When she becomes yours, it's your job to make her feel loved. I'll of course always love her, but not like you can.

Promise me that you'll at lest take these few things into consideration when you marry her. She deserves so much happiness in her life and I'm trusting that you will do that for her, for both of us.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
