This is a letter to all you new college boys (frat stars or not) who think they know all there is to know about us new girls in town. To start this off, I don’t know if it’s because I’m super analytical or because I’ve dealt with so many guys that only knew how to say things that were 100% BS, but somehow I feel so strongly about letting guys know what us girls are truly about despite your common beliefs, so listen up and learn a few things:
- We might be young but we weren’t born yesterday: We know what it means when we’re talking to you at a party and you invite us back to your place to “hang out” believe it or not we’ve watched 100+ tv shows or movies where the same line you gave us last Saturday night is seen.
- We are not all dying to be in a relationship: Keep in mind that we were just freed from the shackles of being in high school where we were confined to a selective number of cute guys, so coming to college and having an abundance of different hot guys to choose from is something we’d also like to take advantage of, so we’re more alike than you think.
- If we text you, don’t be a jerk, just respond: For some reason guys think that a text back the morning, or day or week after means that us girlies are just day dreaming about you guys and doodling your name on our notebooks even more so because of our age, newsflash we’re not, maybe we think you’re cool or maybe you’re just a booty call (ha!).
- You can try to be sneaky but if you talk to our friends we will find out: I think guys are under the impression that they have this super power to talk to multiple girls in the same friend group and not have them find out, well guess what, we are girls, we gossip and we share every detail of our lives with each other. So even if you breathe in the direction of any of my friends I will find out. Sorry us girls stick together.
- Lastly, if you find yourself liking a girl, CLAIM HER: Chances are if you like her and see potential in her so does someone else who cares that you’re a freshman, stop being a clueless guy who is afraid of feelings/commitment and let her know how you feel before someone else does.
Yes, girls are hard to understand and we can be super confusing but honestly we don’t all fit this stereotype of the idea you boys think of us, so remember that next time you think you know us so well.
