When I came to college I was nothing but excited to begin this new chapter in my life. I had grown tired of high school drama and was ready to find bigger and better things to fill my time with. My parents dropped me off and I went through all the usual freshman orientation events. Move-in weekend was a complete whirlwind and in no time, it was already time to begin classes. So many new things were going on in my life, but I still felt alone. I had a few close friends on campus that I could spend my free time with and many of them have proven to be more than amazing people I am glad to have in my life, but I was still lacking something. I wanted to find my person.
I am so lucky to have found you. I was alone, bored, and in need of someone to talk to. Little did I know that I would find my person in a smelly freshman dorm on a Friday night. You walked in and we were immediately drawn to each other. You liked the exact stores that I shop at and, more importantly, you knew how to save money on the clothing we both wanted but sadly could not afford. We exchanged numbers and promised to text each other the next day, but I never really imagined anything would come of it.
You became my sidekick, my Number One. I could not have made it through my freshman year without you. Though we bicker and fight like no other, I don’t think you understand the impact that you have had on my life. You’re the only person who knows how to put me in my place, and yet at the same time you’re the only one who can put me back together when I’m in pieces. I love you more than words can even begin to express and I do not know how I survived the first 18 years of my life without you by my side.
I am thankful that you remain a constant in my life and you will forever be my best friend no matter what our lucky yet so unlucky, stress-filled, crazy lives throw at us. I can’t thank you enough. I would much rather live a crazy life with you than a sane one alone.
