An Open Letter To My Teammates
Morgan Birmelin

Throughout my life, I have played for many different leagues, organizations, and teams. Everything from rec teams, to travel teams, to school teams. This means I have ben blessed with the opportunity to play with countless teammates. To every single one of my teammates, both past and present, thank you.

Thank you for playing the game we all love, most of the time. Dedicating ourselves to something bigger than ourselves reaps so many benefits, most of which I feel we don't appreciate until later in life. Being a part of a team r club with other like-minded individuals builds relationships and connections that we can cherish forever.

Thank you for all the time we both are forced to spend time together and that we choose to spend together. All of those hours we spend traveling to and from games that seem tedious at the time are actually some of the best memories we make. Having a sing-off after a great win or even just sitting next to some of your best friends laughing at funny videos or memes we find on Facebook are some of the best points of our lives. All of the grueling off-season conditioning sessions which we wanted time to speed up, but it never did. The bonding with team thanksgiving, or bowling, or pizza parties that go all night are unforgettable.

Thank you for being my second family and my home away from home. Life isn't always easy, and everyone has ups and downs in this roller coaster life. Knowing that I have had, and always will have, the best support staff one girl could ever ask for is one of the things I'm most grateful for. But, life isn't just dark skies and rainy days either. Being able to celebrate all of the best parts of my life with some of the people who mean almost as much to me as my family, whether it be getting a good grade in a hard class or finding out a friend from home is coming to visit, is the greatest gift I could ask for, especially during this holiday season.

Thank you for teaching me more than just basketball and softball. I now understand how important it is to put others before myself. I have a better appreciation for a sense of dedication and commitment to something. I also see how you never fully understand what someone is going through in their lives until you get to know them, so be respectful to everyone.

To all of my teammates, past and present, thank you. The memories, good and bad, will last with me forever. You all have been such a large part of my life, more than some of you may ever know.

Sincerely,

Bridget

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
