Thank you to my parents, who have taught me that it is okay to make mistakes. Who helped me when I needed it the most. Who made me smile when I had tears in my eyes and made me laugh at the funny jokes they told me. The people who told me that it is okay to not be perfect and that I shouldn't strive to be that, but to be myself. Thank you for all the hours and effort you have put into guiding me through my journey.

Thank you to my siblings for helping me find my passions. For giving me such sweet memories of us playing on the playground and other fun games. For protecting me from others who have hurt me or have done me wrong. For teaching me that making amends is possible after going through arguments. For giving me the opportunity to be there for you just as much as you are there for me.

Thank you to my friends, the ones who are close and the ones who are distant. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to feel as strong as I do now. You taught me how to come up with some really lame jokes. You helped me smile through the toughest times. You helped me discover my passions and interests. You pushed me to open my mind and to let go of the negativity. You taught me so many reasons to be happy in life. Thank you.

Thank you to my teachers for educating me. For having classes that interested me and helped me further my knowledge. For pushing me because you knew that I could handle that assignment. For being understanding when I couldn't understand a subject and for helping me through it. Thank you for helping me grow smarter as I grow older.

Thank you to all the people who have done me wrong. Thank you for pushing me down because it gave me the strength to stand back up. Thank you for the words you spoke to me because it taught me what it can be like to hurt someone. Thank you for being so cold because it reminds me to always be warm to others. Thank you, because even if it took some time to figure it out, I learned that I don't deserve the venomous words you speak. No one does.

All of these people impacted me, positively or negatively, and I sure have a lot of more to thank. Even if I have been hurt by others, I have learned from them. Whenever I felt down, I always had people who were there for me and that weighed more than anything negative. Take a moment and appreciate everything that has happened in your life, and say a thank you to those who are important to you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
