A Letter To The One Who Changed It All

"I didn't plan on falling in love with you, and I doubt if you planned on falling in love with me. But once we met, it was clear that neither of us could control what was happening to us." - The Notebook

All my life I have been on the search for what is called "true love," and I've had my fair share of what I thought was true love. But now that I have found my person, I know exactly what true love is. In your opinion, what do you think true love is and have you found it? Normally when you start hanging out with somebody, you slowly start to like each other and slowly start to admit things that usually take months to let out to your significant other. But, when I met the one who changed it all, my whole perspective on love was changed.

Up until now I never knew exactly what it meant to "click" with somebody in a relationship, because the guys I dated were either not what I was looking for in a man or were just starting to bore me. The guy who changed everything made me feel like I had been with him for years after a few short weeks, and it feels amazing. I keep telling myself that I'm crazy because I've only been hanging out with this person for three weeks, but with him it all makes perfect sense.

"If it's both terrifying and amazing then you should definitely pursue it."

After three weeks of knowing this person, I already feel more love than when I was in a relationship for almost three years. We spent almost every waking hour together for one week straight, and then some time apart for the next two weeks. After being apart that long, I couldn't keep my mind off of him and the thought of being without him made me sick. So, after one long heart-to-heart talk with him, he told me that he had fallen in love with me and I told him that I had fallen in love with him too. You may think I'm crazy and some may say that I am stupid for falling in love with a guy after three weeks, but when your feelings are that strong for somebody there is no reason to hold back.

So, to the one who changed it all, I thank you for opening my eyes and heart to the best kind of love there is to give. You showed me that no matter how soon it is into a relationship, if the love is there, then you should just tell that person. Thank you for being open and honest with me when you told me how you felt and thank you for finally giving me the love I've been searching for.

"We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly."

Don't let the fear of falling in love keep you from being with the person who loves you more than life itself.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
