A Letter To My Older Sister

Dear Sis,

I know I don’t say this enough, but I am so grateful for you. You have helped to mold me into the person that I am today and I am so lucky to call you my older sister. I’ve looked up to you since day one and never once have you failed to show me unconditional love and support.

We are two different people , yet, we are still so similar. I really do consider you my twin even though we have five years apart. Thank you for always putting my needs before your own even when I’m being a diva and I don’t deserve it. I think we can all agree that I’m a lot to handle sometimes, but for some reason you have never given up on me.

I’m not saying that we’ve never fought or I’ve never gotten mad at you, because of course we have, but I do want to say that no matter what happens, I could never hold anything against you. And you have taught me so many life lessons than you could ever imagine. 1.) You have taught me to be true to myself no matter what life brings, 2.) You have taught me to never give up on my dreams even when times get tough, and 3.) You have taught me to be tough and give my opinion because sometimes you have to show some tough love. I could go on and on about how much you have given me, but I’ll just stop there for now.

What I love the most about you is the way you encourage others around you. You truly do believe in people and I know that for sure because you're a teacher. You constantly are helping your children grow into the best people they can be. You're changing the next generation and I saw that when I visited your classroom. Everyone you come in contact with can see that you have such a great passion in everything you do.

You have no idea how much I appreciate you opening your home to me time and time again. Every time I need to get away from the crazy life of college; you never fail to let me stay in that extra bedroom that I already call my own. I don’t know how I could ever repay you for the amount of free dinners, free laundry, and free hugs.

Thank you for being the best sister a girl could ever have. You are truly my best friend and I want you to know that no one could ever replace you. You make me a better person and I hope to one day live a life that makes you so proud of me. I want you to be proud of the person I’ve become. I want you to be proud to call me your little sister because I am so proud to call you my big sister. I love you forever and always.
