Dear Abby and Gillian,
I know neither of you will be reading this for a week, since you both jetted off for your tropical Senior Spring Break vacations this morning, but I thought this would be the perfect time to write this. I can't believe you guys have FINALLY made it to the end of your senior year. It seems like yesterday, you guys were freaking out about being freshmen in high school, and in just five months you're going to be freshmen in college.
I am so excited for you guys and everything you have ahead of you. From the bittersweet celebrations, like prom and graduation, to the scary excitement of moving into your dorm in August, going to your first college party, and maybe even going through recruitment. It's the craziest, scariest, most exciting time of your life, and I can't wait for you to start it.
College is a huge change. Everything about your life and everything you have always known is about to change; that's inevitable, and it's scary. You're entering into a brand new phase in your life, living in a brand new place with brand new people. But you guys are lucky because you'll have each other. I'm so glad you're rooming together and will be able to support each other when you're going through times of homesickness or stress with school. But college is a good change too.
Get excited for all the (responsible) fun you're going to have! There is nothing like your freshman year. Between the late night pizzas, football Saturdays, and frat parties, you are in for a great time. People call college "the best four years of your life" for a reason. Trust me.
I'm so proud of both of you and everything you've accomplished in your four years of high school. Between the two of you, you have a Pom State Championship, a dance studio full scholarship, and acceptance into Michigan State's Honors College and Nursing Scholars program under your belts. Even though we're going to rival schools (boo), I know you guys will be amazing at MSU, and I can't wait to see what great things you accomplish.
You guys (and Madison) are the sisters that I never had. When we started dancing together, never did I think that, five years later, we would still be as close as we are. We have been through everything together. We have always been there for each other no matter what- even through me leaving dance and going to college. Now you guys, the youngest two of our little group, are getting ready to start college, and I want you to know that nothing is going to change. Whenever you need me, know that I'm always just a phone call away. Anytime, day or night, I will be there for you, and I know you guys are there for me too.
Congratulations on being almost done with high school. Enjoy every second of the rest of your senior year and make great memories. Get excited for college, but don't let it take you out of the present. Thank you for being my surrogate sisters for the past five years, and I can't wait to see where the next five years take us. I love you guys to the moon and back!
Love,
Emily
