Dear Mom,
As my sophomore year is winding down, I can’t help but think that I cannot believe I am halfway done with college already! It seems like it was just yesterday you were waving at me from the gymnasium stands at graduation, or helping me pack and prepare for freshmen move-in day, or hugging me a tearful goodbye, when you and Dad dropped me off that first, scary day. With Mother’s Day season, I thought it’d be the perfect time to express my appreciation and love for you and all you do for my siblings and I. You’re truly a superhero to us.
Never did I think I’d miss your home-cooked meals, fresh, warm bed sheets, and most of all, a calm and listening voice whenever I needed. Sure, you’re just a phone call away, but it’s not definitely not the same. On days that I miss you and home more than usual, I can’t help but think how blessed I am to have someone and someplace to miss so much! I mean, God gave me the most selfless, caring, kind mother; what did I do to deserve that?! Thank you, for raising me right. Thank you, for always being my shoulder to cry on. Thank you, for blessing me with perfect, wonderful siblings. Thank you, for encouraging me to be independent. Thank you, for always being on my side, even when you knew I was wrong. Thank you, for supporting all my aspirations in life. Thank you, for being my biggest fan, always.
I know we’ve had our share of disagreements and stupid arguments in the past, but in hindsight I see that those things will happen, for we are so similar and you’re always looking out for my best interest. Although you may not believe it, being away from home has given me a whole new appreciation for it, and I can’t wait to be home for an entire summer. I love you endlessly, Mom, and I will always, always need you. I hope our relationship always remains strong as ever, no matter where life takes me. Happy Mother’s Day; you of all mothers deserve the most amazing day.
Love always,
Your daughter
