Dear Mentor,
I grew up thinking that a teacher or a coach was just someone who was there. It wasn't until I was learning from you that I knew that they were meant to be so much more. They were meant to make me enjoy my time with them. The mentors that don't respect you are the ones that make you regret ever learning the things that they are teaching but the ones that really matters are the ones that make you fall in love with it. You made me love what I do again.
You were all these things. You made me love everything I do now. You were the mentor that showed me that it was okay to be a little personal. You helped me through so much more than what you taught me and continue to today. I can still hear the little important life lessons you taught me. They are always there like a second conscious. Not only were you my mentor but you were my friend, a person I knew I could go to for anything.
You came into my life and immediately cared for me along with your other students. You were our second mom and made us all feel like a family. You were there to give us advice. You were our shoulder to cry on and you always made everything better. If we ever had a problem with anything, you were the first to know.
You made me love what I was doing and for that, I will forever be grateful. You made everything click. Made everything have a purpose again. You always gave the best pep talks and are the reason I'm as confident as I am now. You deserve all the happiness in the world because you showed me happiness even when I was sad.
When I was upset after messing up, you were the one to help me stand up tall again. Whenever I felt like I couldn't do something, you pushed me to keep trying. You are the reason for my success. I wouldn't be were I am today if it weren't for you. I wouldn't be able to do this things I can do now if I hadn't walked into your class. I hope to be half the mentor you are when I grow up.
Everyone should know what it feels like to have a mentor as great as you. I will never forget the great values you have instilled in me. Every time I think of what being a mentor means, I'll think of you and all the traits you posses. You may not have been my first mentor but you were certainly my favorite and most important. I know that I can always count on you to be there. I will be forever in debt to you and it'll grow each day.
I just want to say thank you for being you. Thank you for always being there. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for giving me my life.
-A forever grateful student
