Dear Long distance Best Friend,
Today Marks two months since I have been able to hear your contagious laugh, seen your bright smile, or give you a hug. There’s never a day when you don’t cross my mind or where I don’t miss you like crazy. Many pictures of our spectacular memories remain on my walls and in my camera roll as a constant reminder that someday soon we will be making more memories to hold onto.
If theres one thing I've learned in the last three years its that Long distance friendships aren't easy.
With our busy college schedules, there’s a slim chance of finding a good time time to facetime or talk on the phone for more than three minutes. On days when I know you are hurting or homesick, it takes every ounce of me to not jump in my car and make the 9 hour and 11 minute drive to come see you. One part of having a long distance best friend is seeing things or hearing songs that make me instantly think of you, you have impacted my life in a wondrous way and for that I am thankful. My friends here at home have heard so many stories of our times together and of course are used to hearing about how much I miss you while you’re away.
One great bonus to our friendship is the vacations that come out of visiting you. The drive there is filled with excitement and joy, each moment in the car feels like an eternity with knowing that at the end of the trip is the most precious reward, time with you. Whenever I see your snapchats and instagram post I can’t help but wish I was living that moment with you by my side. Holidays have become more exciting because holiday breaks usually mean I’ll get to finally see you.
With the time we are apart I cherish each letter and message you send, but more importantly when you are home I cherish each moment we are together. When we are apart days can sometimes feel like years but when we hangout hours feel like seconds. Although we can’t talk everyday I know that I can still come to you with anything and I hope you remember that I’m always just a phone call away (and will definitely try to make you laugh with my horrible jokes).
I can’t wait for the moment when you come home and we can pick up right where we left off. From many miles away you still manage to brighten up my day and cheer me on in everything I do. Distance can sure put a friendship to the test, but I thank you for persevering with me. Thank you for staying up at odd hours so that we can finally find a moment to catch up. And mostly, thank you for helping this friendship grow closer, as we physically grow further apart.
571 miles, 9 hours and 11 minutes, time and distance does not stand a chance against our friendship, but it does make it more special. The past two months has felt more like two years but I’m counting down the days until I can hear your voice and see your smile in person. Until then, I look forward to each time we get to talk.
I miss you more than I can easily describe.
Love,
Your best friend who lives 571 miles away
