Dear Laney,

There's really so much I could write right now. Sometimes it's hard to come up with words to describe how you feel about something or someone, but I do believe the best work is from the heart and that's exactly what this is going to be. So, here it goes:

People always joke about how you're my little sister but you tower over me in height; I wish they knew that you also tower over me in braveness. Your courage astounds me every single day. I am so incredibly overcome by the amount of bravery that is in your soul. You make me so proud. I will not only always look up to you physically and literally, but I will always look up to your strength. We get funny looks when we say we've been close our whole life, but I am so glad I have always been able to say with complete confidence that we are close and that you are truly my best friend. Your talent blows me away, your passion for your craft of dance is nothing short of inspiring and I can't help but glow when you step out on that stage. Your dedication is also something I will always admire.

You have been knocked down so many times, you have been pushed around and used, you have been treated less than fair, but I want you to know you are a hero. You are my hero. You have won so many battles that I couldn't even imagine having to fight. I know it's tough to see now, but I want you to know that everything will be worth it. I never want you to doubt that you are an incredible human being behind and beyond all the hurt that has happened, that does not define or diminish that light that I know you possess. I will be by your side through everything and I never want you to worry about being alone.

I will always be overprotective; I will always want to fight your battles for you; and I will always be worried. BUT, I will also always be there. I will always be your number one cheerleader, I will always be proud.

You understand me like nobody else on this planet. You get my jokes, you get my interests and loves and passions. You never make me feel ashamed of who I am. You're the Emily to my Zooey (even though Zooey's younger but it's fine...point is we each love a Deschanel sister we've been over this ok MOVING ON...)

Being your big sister will always and forever be the greatest honor of my life. Thank you for keeping me here. Thank you for being my biggest inspiration. I love you with my whole heart...always.
