Letter To My Little Siblings

You all mean so much to me and I can't tell you enough how much I love you.

Letter To My Little Siblings
Nikki Mabry

Dear brother and sisters,

I am writing you this letter to let you know that no matter how much you annoy me (which is quite often, trust me), I want you to know that I love you each dearly. You each teach me so many new things each day. Each goofy moment in the car, each fight, each time you try to prank another one of us is a treasured moment in my life. You all bring so many talents and amazing qualities into my life and you make life so much more, well, interesting. I love you all so much and could not imagine life without you, even though being an only child might have been the best two years of my life; kidding! I'm only kidding!

Baby brother:

You frustrate me so much. Really, you exasperate me all the time. But we have some pretty great moments too. Those moments I let you drive the bomber without mom knowing (shhh... don't tell her), the times we just laugh and I tease you about that weird giggle you make, the times you scared me so many times so much that I started crying, or only yesterday when you and your friend tried to trick me but I teamed up with mom and won, each of these moments only barely break the surface of who you actually are. You try to act so tough for the outside but those days when I'm sad and you simply smile softly and ask "need a hug?" Those are the days that truly show the amazing christian man you are becoming.

But possibly my favorite days with you are the ones we try to persuade mom to let us go eat after the football games. I'm at all of your football games and after every game I tell you how great you played, or when you don't play I'll tell you how great you looked, and you always contradict me and tell me to quit lying. But Broseph, you really do play great or look great and you always know how to make me feel better and you never fail to make me smile, even if sometimes it's only a pity smile. Thank you for all you do and for all that you mean to me.

Little sisters:

First, before I get into how much you mean to me, let me reiterate, STOP STEALING MY CLOTHES. We aren't even the same size! And to the youngest, clean the room every once in a while and stop taking my lipstick and kissing the mirror.

However much you annoy me, you make up for it. You both have the most contagious smiles and you're both so goofy. Spending the day with you two makes me so happy. Although we don't spend all of our time together, we do spend quite a lot of time together.

You ask me about boys and you complain when I steal your space for my friends and I. But I think secretly you love me just as much as (if not more than) I love you. Thank you for putting up with me and letting me come to your games and practices and making midnight grocery store runs where we buy more than mom said we could (once again, shhh). Thank you for all you girls do, I love you both so much.

Thank you all for letting me call you Broseph, Short-stack , and Nerd; well, at least for not hitting me every time I call you that. I love all three of you so much, even though I don't say it enough. No words can describe how I feel for you and this letter only scratched the surface. You guys bring me so much joy and I'll never be able to repay you. I love you all so much.

Sincerely,

Your big sister

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
