A Letter To My High School Friends

(Friends whom I don't really talk to anymore.)

A Letter To My High School Friends

Dear Old High School Friends,

Thank you. Those four years in the school I like to think of as of a more casual prison, were actually bearable thanks to you guys. Hanging out with you seven in the football boys' jerseys on Friday nights, with paint all over our faces, and then getting kicked out of Red Robin because our school was known for dining and dashing, was so much fun with all of you by my side. You guys made my four years so memorable, and because of that I am very thankful and appreciative of each and every one of you—you know who you are.

Other than just casually stalking all of your Snapchat stories, tweets, and Instagram photos, I don't know what is going on with your life because we don't talk anymore. Sure we have our coffee dates once we are all back at home for the summer, but other than that we aren't really a part of each others lives anymore, and that is 100 percent okay. I knew this was going to happen, I just didn't think it would be this easy to not talk to each other when we went out separate ways.

I know we basically never talk, and I don't mind. We went to different colleges, hung around different people, grew up in the time span of our first year at college and grew apart. I don't mind that we don't talk, I do however, miss our girls nights, where we would eat ice cream out of the pint itself, and binge watch ten different rom coms in the time span of one night. The endless bonfires that we had at each other's houses roasting marshmallows, gossiping about how our next year in the dorms would be absolutely glorious, and giggling until our stomachs cramped were my favorite kinds of nights. We really were BFF's, and I still consider all of you my F's—friends—and I know that the relationships we had with one another are some that I know I will cherish for my entire life. High school is where you find yourself and you all definitely helped me find myself. I know that without you all being a part of my life I wouldn't be who I am today, so I thank you all for that. I am also so freaking proud of all of you because I know you are all doing so great in your lives—yes I might have stalked your Facebook to know that you have a new job and that you have a boyfriend too! You all were my PIC—partners in crime, I could count on any of you to pick me up to go to a movie, or to do something hilariously sketchy that we will remember for the rest of our lives, or if I just needed a shoulder to cry on.

I want all of you guys, and all of the people I was friends with in high school to know that you all should be expecting me to randomly Snapchat you, say hi if we cross paths in the mall, or even say hi to your parents. I am honestly curious about what you are doing in your life and how you are doing, because it's fun to see where everyone is in their lives. I will always care for each and every one of you, no matter how much we drift apart. I will also always be there for you, even if it's 3:00 in the morning, I am willing to come to your rescue if you're in jail or even if you just need someone to talk to on the phone. Each of you will always be a part of me and all of our relationships will have a special place in my heart forever.

Stay fresh and clean, class of 2014.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
