It is one of the scariest places to be when you are in between graduating from your senior year of high school and entering your freshmen year of college. It is one of the most uncertain places to be in. You have no idea what is coming next. The future is unknown and you have no expectations. You are leaving the life you know and the people you know behind. You are about to enter a new life and you have absolutely no idea what to expect out of it. This is how it feels when you are in the summer between your senior year of high school and your freshmen year of college.
Anyone who is in college or has been to college has been in this position before. It is a scary place to be in. I am here to tell you that worrying is a huge waste of your time. This is your last summer in your hometown with all of your friends! There may be a handful that do not return home the following summer. So, the best advice I can give you is to simply enjoy it. Make the best out of the time you have here with the people you have here, because I promise, the time will fly by.
Everyone feels nervous when they are about to go to college. It is inevitable. You are entering a new life and have absolutely no idea what it will be like. Don’t be too nervous. After a few days in college, you will realize how great it is and how much you love it. You will realize that all that time you spent worried and stressed out was for nothing. The one year that I have spent in college has been the best year of my life. You will make friends, so don’t stress about that. Everyone is in the same boat and dying to meet people. That will not be a problem for you. Yes, the classes are hard, but yes you can do it. You were accepted into this school and you are smart enough to make it through. Feeling nervous is a waste of your time.
If anything, you should be excited for this new life you have made for yourself. The best years of your life may be the ones you are in college. The best is yet to come, and it happens to be right around the corner. You will meet life long friends. You will be studying something you are truly good at and passionate about. You will learn how to be self reliant and independent. You will discover who you truly are. If those aren’t reasons to be excited, then I don’t know what is. I’m not saying it isn’t scary and hard moving away from everything you know, but you also may discover it could be the best thing that has ever happened to you. Get excited for the next four years of your life!
