To my best friends,
I don’t know about you, but the reality that we’re all about to leave for college has hit me like a bus. We’ve got to go out on our own now, make our own decisions, take care of ourselves…basically, we have to start being grown-ups. However, that doesn’t sound too bad to me. What I’m dreading, is the fact that I won’t be seeing you all every day during the school year. We won’t be able to hang out on the weekends for a late-night baking session, brunch on Saturday morning, or just a plain ol’ sleepover filled with laughter, junk food, and togetherness.
I can still remember the first semester of freshman year. We were so excited to start high-school. Fast-forward about three weeks from that moment, and the excitement quickly dissolved into stress and tears. It was a hard transition, but it was made so much easier because I had all of you by my side. We were always there for each other to lend a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, or simply open arms to find comfort in. I’m not ready to say goodbye to that. I don’t think I will ever want to be ready to say goodbye to that.
However, when I think on it some more, I realize that I’m not saying goodbye. This is simply a, “See you later.” Our's is the type of friendship that will pick up right where it left off. I can’t wait to see you all at Christmas break so we can stay up late catching up. Sure, I won’t be seeing you all every day over the school year. We may not be able to hang out every weekend. But we are blessed with the social media we have today. FaceTime is also quite the invention. How does a FaceTime sleepover sound?
I am so blessed by each and every one of you, and I’m so grateful for our friendship. Now we go back to the bottom of the totem pole, but we’re not alone: we’re just a phone call away.
Love,
Katherine
