To The Friend Who Never Left,
We've been friends for so long that I can't remember a time in my life when you weren't around. Realistically, I don't have a lot of memories from before us being friends because we were so young. From that first day of preschool, at four years old, I knew we would be friends forever. I want to start off by saying thank you for sticking by me through braces, puberty, and some pretty questionable hair, outfit, and boy choices.

We've been friends for so long that you are actually a part of the family now. If my front door wasn't always unlocked, I'm sure you would have a key by now considering you're more than welcome to just walk right in. Honestly, it'd feel kind of awkward if you actually knocked. My parents have always jokingly called you their favorite daughter, although sometimes I'm not sure they're joking. Even my extended family will ask me periodically how you're doing and what college you decided to go to. You were the only one of my friends to come to my grandmother's funeral, and to have a friend be there for the good and the bad, is something I will always be thankful for.
We've spent the last 14 years going to the same school so I can't tell you how weird it is being over 3 hours away from you. Since college started we haven't kept in touch as much as I would like, but that's the beauty of our friendship. No matter how much time or distance passes, we can pick up right where we left off. We could go weeks without talking but I know as soon as we see each other or talk again it'll feel like it's only been a day. Because of this, I know I can count on you to always be there, even as we get older. Once we're "officially" grown up (even though they try to tell us we're adults now?) and have families of our own, I hope that I could still call you and talk to you about what's going on. I can't imagine a world where you won't be one of my bridesmaids someday, or a role model for my future children, regardless of where we're living or what we're doing. So many friends have come and gone over the years, but I hate to break it to you, I'm here to stay. Here's to many more years of laughing and growing up with you by my side.
Love,
Your Forever Friend
