Thank you. I have so much to say and so much to be thankful for, but there's no way I can express it all, least of all in an articulate manner. This year was filled with so many firsts for us, and I wouldn't have wanted to share them with anyone else. Through all the ups and downs, I'm glad we faced them together.
While we faced many differences throughout the year, I know even as I'm writing this that we are coming out stronger on the other side. We've developed a friendship, a bond, that can't ever be replaced; we might have new and different roommates throughout our educations and even our lives, but you will forever be my freshman roommates. We faced move in and welcome week together, and it's almost time for us to face our first move out together. Before we do, I have a few things to thank you for.
Thank you for making me feel included. We might not have spent all of our time together throughout the year, but I always knew that I had someone to hang out with, even on days when I didn't feel like doing anything or leaving the room.
Thank you for not writing your papers until the night before the due date. I always felt a little bit better knowing I wasn't the only one who had (once again) made that mistake, and it was definitely more fun to commiserate together than on my own.
Thank you for being a little (or a lot) insane. I can't even count how many times I went to bed with a stomach ache from laughing, whether at your crazy antics or the ridiculous stories from your childhood.
Thank you for the talks we had at night before bed. Whether they were serious, heartfelt conversations or simply gossip and chatter, they meant so much to me. Living separately next year might change the location of our talks, but I hope they continue.
Finally, thank you for being my friends. Living in the same room together made it impossible for us to remain strangers, but friendship can't be forced. I'm glad we were friends and not just roommates.
