Dear Family,
This is the first time that I have ever doubted my Christmas spirit. After I realized that I had missed the Christmas parade and our local Festival of Trees, I was thrown off. These events are obviously not the pinnacle of the holiday season, but in the past we have set aside time to attend them together. This year that didn't happen. It wasn't the fault of one singular person, but it happened.
I realize that we are all very busy, but I miss you. I realize that I am also at fault. I have missed piano recitals and chorus concerts, but trust me when I say that I was watching your Facebook Live videos during my classes and backstage at shows. As the youngest of my generation, I don't know life without you guys, and I'm not ready to anytime soon.
Therefore, I am promising to make more of an effort to be involved in your lives. I will set aside more time for you. I will find a way to get to those recitals and award days, to go out to lunch, and to just crash on your couch some weekends. If we all make an effort, we can get out of this funk.
All I want for Christmas is you.
