Dear childhood best friend,
First, I'd just like a thank you for being such a big part of my life. Since second grade through courses of each year, we were inseparable. My childhood memories all consist of you, from playing barbies until 2 a.m. to going to build a bear workshop and you throwing a fit because I wouldn't trade you bears when we got home.
To this day, we still make fun of ourselves and bring up all the fun memories and the annoying ones too. My best childhood memories were with you. Some of my favorite consisted of you hitting my brother with a plastic yield sign, the “boy arguing with himself” video and me rolling over in your throw up after holiday world. Some memories may have not been most thrilling at the time, but looking back, they're absolutely hilarious.
Besides our memories, I have always looked up to you over the years and cannot thank you enough for what you have taught me. You are one of the top ten students in our class, an awesome tennis player, and genuinely just a good person.
You have always been that way and still are. I always wanted to be as smart as you, if not smarter (I was pretty excited last semester when I got a better grade than you on a test, but I didn't let it show too much). You may not know this, but over the years, I tried in school because I wanted to be a straight A student just like you.
Also, when it came to sports, I always thought you were the best and I remember even complimenting you in third grade about how good you played and you replied with “I didn't play good at all”, you didn't take the compliment because you thought you weren't playing good enough and that taught me to be humble.
No matter how far apart we get in this crazy life, just know that you are the person who is always in my favorite childhood stories. I know we've made new friends, gotten boyfriends, and don't make time for each other much over the years. But just know that you will always have a place in my heart and I can't thank you enough for how much you have done for me over the years as well as taught me.
And as separated as we have gotten, I'm so thankful that we still get to share laughs and memories. I'm also thankful that we can pick up right where we left off. You'll always be considered my childhood best friend and I'm sure that you consider me that too. Thanks for all the laughs, memories, and being there if I need you, no matter how long it's been since we have talked.
Love, Al
