A Letter To My Best Friend With Different Political Views

Dear Best Friend,

It has been a difficult past couple of months for both of us but it is all going to be okay. There are many positives to being close to someone who believes different things. You have taught me so much.

I now can look at the other side of things and put myself into your shoes. I am trying to understand better why you believe what you do and I hope you will do the same for me.

Can you imagine how boring this world would be if we all had the same views on everything? A difference of opinion and questioning ideas is how our government has made so much progress.

I hope to one day be in politics and help others. I know you won't agree with all of my propositions but I hope you will still support me.

We may have different views but our friendship is stronger than that. Together we can change this world a little bit by bringing others who disagree to become more civil with each other.

I am disgusted with the amount of violence that has been taking place and the shaming of people for their beliefs. We all need to come together and just love each other.

I was hoping that you would be the first to join me in trying to reunite our generation because I love you so much.

Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
