Thank You Letter To Arts Fest

Dear arts fest, thank you.

1. Thank you for allowing me back to my favorite place.

By the middle of the summer, I am planning trips to go visit all the friends I miss so much. I am busy with summer classes, an internship, and a real job. However, I am in a deep need to get back to my happy place.

2. Thank you for blowing up my Instagram.

Shout out to all the people who travel every year for the Festival of the Arts. We enjoy our time together, we meet new friends, we reunite with old ones, and we take more pictures in one weekend than we do in an entire summer. There is nothing better than waking up from a nap after a long day and seeing all your favorite people in one place again.

3. Thank you for bringing me back together with my favorite people.

They say the friends you meet in college last you a lifetime. I would have to agree with that statement. The friends you can't wait to see during this weekend are the friends who will be there forever. However many miles away they live, you all come together for one memorable weekend in the summer.

4. Thank you for letting me pretend I am a summer session freshman again.

Thinking that I don't have that much longer at this amazing university is astonishing. I feel like I should be moving into my freshman dorm, rather than my junior year apartment. Walking down the streets in the summer and going to apartments for fun let me pretend the real world is farther away than it is.

5. Thank you for draining my bank account.

Arts fest is no inexpensive feat. The car, the parking tickets, the gas, the snacks, the beverages, and the occasional uber all add up. You think it is a weekend filled with fun at no expense. However, the lack of parking leads to a ticket, the food is costly because order up is the only thing you used, the beverages are always in demand, and the Uber surcharge is exorbitant. Despite it all though, it is worth it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
