A Letter of Appreciation to My Boyfriend
Kelly Steinberg

Dear Boyfriend,

I would like to take some time to show my utmost appreciation to you for everything that you do, and continue to do for me on a daily basis. I know I'm not the easiest to get along with at times, but yet you continue to stay patient with me, and love me unconditionally. Your actions and words mean the world to me, just as you do.

You shower me with compliments on a daily basis, even when I continuously deny them, and tell myself otherwise. You've stood with me in front of the mirror time after time pointing out all the "perfections" as you call them, while I point out every flaw I see. Even though I don't show it, you make me feel beautiful on my worst days, and on my best days you make me humble. For always fighting my insecurities with me in what seems like a never-ending battle, I am thankful.

You continue to make me feel safe, even when we're not physically together, even in the silliest of situations. You've answered my Facetime calls when I was too scared to walk across campus at night alone, you've held me tight during all of the scary movies I've dragged you to see but instantly regretted because I couldn't sleep that night. During sleepless nights where I've felt alone you've answered every text, and have kept me company, sometimes even driving to wherever I was so I didn't have to sleep with anxious thoughts. You've been my rock for the longest time, and I'm thankful.

You always push me to my full potential in all that I do, when my motivation is at its minimal. You've sat up with me and reviewed countless flashcard after flashcard, study guide after study guide, and outline after outline. You've been one of my biggest fans by attending almost every single one of my volleyball games, taping footage of my highlights, and picking me up after every loss. When I felt like giving up on IB after long sleepless nights of homework, you gave me a little mental break just by hearing your voice over the phone, and gave me the much needed push to continue on. You are one of my greatest motivators in life, and I'm thankful.

Sometimes its the smallest things you do for me, that make me the most thankful, because they're the most meaningful, and carry the most emotion. Things like buying me milk and bagels when I'm broke, listening to my music constantly (even though I always play the same songs over and over) and not complaining, carrying me around when my feet hurt from wearing the heels you warned me not to wear, and just listening to me ramble on about my day, are all small actions that hold a great positive weight in our relationship, and I'm thankful.

Most of all I'm thankful for all the countless memories we've made together, no matter how big or small. We've been to Cox Farms every October running from zombies and clowns, followed by warm apple cider by the fire. We've attended two homecomings, three proms, and a formal; our share of fancy dinners, and so many parties. We've had picnics in the most unexpected of places, drove to random places to take photos, and have gone ghost hunting to satisfy our need for suspense. We've attended concerts close to home, and in other states, and we've been to the beach twice. None of these memories would have been possible without you, and the amount of work you do, and I am thankful.

Yours Forever and Always,

Kelly <3

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
