To My Under-Appreciated Parents

Honestly, where do I even begin?

Mom and Dad,

Neither of you get near enough credit for the things you both do for this family. As a team, you guys have taught our family how to love whole-heartedly, how to give without thinking, how to strive and never give up, and how to put all of our trust in God above all.

Life has not always been easy, but it sure has been worth it. Through hardships you guys made us see the light in dark situations. When things got tough, neither of you ever worried that we wouldn't be okay. You both do whatever it takes to keep our family strong and in a positive light, no matter the circumstances.

I know that my brothers and I can be a handful at times, but that never changes the amount of love you show us. You both constantly do everything you can to make sure we are well taken care of, healthy, and able to take on life. You both sacrificed almost every weekend by following us around the country with baseball and volleyball. No matter what we have going on, you are always there to support us 110% in everything we do.

There have been a countless number of people who have turned their back on me and my siblings, but you guys have always stayed true to us and we know you will always have our backs through thick and thin. You guys have been there for all 3 of us in every case, whether it has been a phone call ranting about our day or a serious situation that we really needed help in. You two care about us more than anything or anyone else in the world and we couldn't be more thankful for that.

You two have shown us the real meaning behind true love. You give each other everything you've got and more. There's not a thing that could weaken the love you guys share and I want nothing more than that in life. You have taught us all what to expect and not to accept in relationships with others.

We appreciate you more than words can explain. You sacrifice everything to make sure we are happy. You work hard day in and day out to provide us with what we need in life and also with the things we want. You help us out at the drop of a hat if we are in need. You make sure that we never have to do without. You have also made sure we understand that the word "no" does exist and we won't always get everything we want in life.

Last but not least, we thank you.

Thank you for all the things you have done and will do for us. Thank you for disciplining us and teaching us right from wrong. Thank you for loving us unconditionally no matter what trouble we may run into. The three of us are so thankful and blessed to have some of the greatest parents this world could possibly have!

Love always,

Your little girl

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
