A Letter To My 30 Year Old Best Friend
Renee Sherman-Gauthier

One of the most important things in life is having great friends to support you, and I have come to realize that friends come in all shapes, sizes and especially ages. One of the most important friendships I have developed within my life is with a 30-year-old, who is married, has a baby and another one on the way. As a 19-year-old many people view this as a somewhat odd thing when I say, "My best friend is a 30-year-old and her one-year-old baby", but this friendship is the most important one I have ever had. So, this is a thank you to that friend:

Thank you for treating me as an equal. As someone who is 10 years younger than you it would be easy for you to treat me as the young adult I am, who barely has her life together but you don't. You always treat me the same as you would any other friend and I am so appreciative of that. I can come to you with anything, and you never judge me no matter what. I love that we can discuss anything going on in either of our lives, and cherish that. I am beyond lucky to have someone so trustworthy in my life.

Thank you for being my role model. One of the things I love the most about our friendship is that I have someone to look up to. You truly are one of the most remarkable people I know, and that helps inspire me all the time. You are strong, kind, beautiful and so much more which brings such a positive light to not only my life, but everyone who knows you.

Thank you for always staying in touch. When I left for school in August I was so nervous that we wouldn't talk as much as we said we would; which was already going to be such a change since we saw each other almost every day. I appreciate the Facetimes at least once a week, and still being able to talk just like when I'm home.

Thank you for your baby. Now, I know this one sounds weird but ever since I found out you were pregnant with Evelyn, my life was instantly better. She brings so much love and happiness to my life. You are an amazing mother, and I love watching Evelyn grow into the amazing individual you are teaching her to be.

Thank you for being my family. I am so thankful to be able to call you my friend, but most importantly my family. When I refer to you as my friend it doesn't even seem right because you are truly so much more. Everything you do for me, and all the time we spend together makes me realize how truly blessed I am to have you in my life. I not only gained an amazing friend, but also an amazing little family. You, Evelyn, Jeramia and Mike never fail to make me feel at home in yours.

Thank you for everything, being my best friend, my family, my role model and so much more. I love you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
