Dear Bee,

As we get older, the less you feel like a younger sister and the more you feel my age.

While this may be true, before you turn 18, there's still some things that I want you know.

1. I love you very much.

There is absolutely nothing you can do to make me not love you. If you ever need anything at all, I will come to you and do my best to help you. I won't judge you and I'll always have an open heart to you.

2. You are beautiful.

You are literally so beautiful and I never want you to doubt yourself or be self-conscious because of your appearances. Eat that macaroni and cheese and still rock your shorts. You look awesome.

3. Sometimes life will be hard.

When you turn 18 and you're on your own, sometimes you might find yourself digging in your purse for a five dollar bill to put in your gas tank, you might have an exam the next day, and next thing you know, it might start raining. Call me. I'll always be someone you can rant to. I'll listen.

4. Have self time.

Never get too busy to do self-care. Love on yourself and take care of yourself. Get your nails done. Do you hair. Crochet. Do anything that makes your heart happy.

5. I pray for you everyday.

I know you don't necessarily believe in God, but I do. I am always praying for your well being and everything that is going on in your life.

Love,

Mickala

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
