When we first met I did not think anything of it, I did not think it would turn into anything. Then I learned all the characteristics that make you, you and now I can not get enough. You are fun, energetic, and everyone seems to want to be around you. Your laugh makes everyone smile and your smile lights up a room. You easily became my best friend in the short time I have known you and now I do not know what I would do without you.
I hope you know how much you mean to me and how much I value your opinions. Also, I hope you know how much I have learned from you. If not, here is what you have inspired me to work on and strengthen to become a better version of me.
How to always see the brighter side.
You always have me see how the grass is greener on the other side, and that I need to work to get there. I know I am stubborn and do not like to have my mind changed and I know I will challenge everything you say. But now I can see that the brighter side of things can make the situation a little easier, so thank you.
To talk with grace, but still, have a bite.
I know now that fighting and getting angry does not get me anywhere. You have taught me to talk to people calmly while still speaking my mind. I know now that killing them with kindness does much more than trying to prove a point. Trying to find a solution, but not allowing myself to get walked on has made me a stronger person, so thank you.
To experience new things with an open mind.
Again, I am stubborn. I do not like change, and I like to have a plan. But you have taught me how much stress is taken off my back just by "going with the flow". I now live a happier life because I have opened my mind to new experience and I can handle when plans change or just do not go the way I originally wanted. Now, I am more relaxed and happy, so thank you.
How to take down my walls and trust again.
Before you, I never saw myself trusting again. I did not want to allow my walls to be taken down, just to get hurt again. I now know that not everyone is going to hurt me and I do have a good judge of character to be able to see the signs of a toxic relationship. I am now able to open up to the loved ones I have surrounded myself with which has made my relationships stronger, so thank you.
To be independent.
I never used to be able to go to a coffee shop alone or make a call to the doctor's office. But you have taught me that I am capable of anything whether that is just asking for directions or getting my dream job. You have allowed me to always be myself and find my own passions, friends, or whatever else while still being able to have someone I can always fall back on. Now I know I am happy alone but welcome others, so thank you.
To not let my emotions get the best of me.
My emotions have always felt like they were apart of me. Being a girl I am not entirely sure that is out of the norm. But no matter what I did, said or experienced I felt emotional and it took over my rational. You have taught me now that being desensitized to certain situations can help overcome an obstacle. Through this, you also have allowed me to continue to be sensitive and sympathetic because we all know if you are a crier, you are always a crier. But now I know when to put emotion into a decision or situation and when it is not necessary which has helped me become stronger, so thank you.
Although we do not always see eye to eye, we have had our fair share of ups and downs, and sometimes you drive me crazy, you are so incredibly important to me. Without you and the short time, we have known each other I would not have been able to overcome the hurdles life has thrown at me. You have taught me important lessons and challenge me to become better every day. I appreciate your insights and how you allow me to pick your brain. I love that you have opened a door in the walls you have built and allowed me to get to know the amazing man you really are.
After all, we have been through you have helped me but have not changed me, so thank you.
