"Little Women: LA" was the first of the series to air on May 27, 2014. I did not get into the show until the second season. Needless to say, I missed all the fabulous name-calling, fighting and making up that comes with these foxy alpha females. The main girls on "Little Women: LA" are Terra Jole, Elena Gant, Tonya Renee Banks, Briana Manson and Christy Artan. With all the fights, making up and random fun events they taught me more than any reality show could have. Although I live in New York City, with its diverse population and cultures, I have never met or even really seen a little person. I never understood what life was like for them. These women along with the women on New York and Atlanta have taught me a ton about little people.
1. Little people are normal people
As ridiculously as that sounds it is true. I never knew that they were normal people who have normal goals and dreams. This is shown with the Boss (Ms. Tonya Banks) and Jazmin Lang. Lang is an actress who wants to bust into Hollywood and would not let her size stop her.
2. Health
I never understood that little people have a whole lot of health issues depending on their type of dwarfism. From ear infects gone wrong to giving birth, they face it all. Giving birth or just being pregnant for that matter can be deadly. Shown by a lot of ladies- everyone is having babies.
Terra Jole
Elena Gant
Briana Manson
Andrea Salinas
Emily Fernandez
Mainly Briana, Emily and Elena who embodied the struggles of pregnancy for a little woman. Briana had to fight for her baby and her life. Still she and the baby came out alright. Emily is still currently facing health issues with her baby. Had to have a track implant. (Hope he gets better, Emily).
3. Drama is huge
Each section of Little Women is jam packed with there own drama. Before watching the show I did not think that little people fought, argued or yelled (do not judge how little I knew about little people.) Each woman and Jason- I did not forget about you, Jason- holds their own. They stand up for themselves. They do not just prove that they are strong little people but women- and man.
4. The turn up is still real
They party like no one’s business, at least in Atlanta. The Tiny Twins (Andrea and Amanda Salinas) and Left and Right Cheek (Emily Fernandez and Bri Barlup) can twerk better than anyone alive and can get any party started with a simple move.
New York and LA do know how to let lose with great get togethers. From Elena’s surprise party to the Vagina Art show, they know how to have a great time.
This show has taught me a ton about little people mainly because I’ve never met a little person. This show is a great show to watch if you want to know more about little people such as do not call them the M-word or do not approach them as if they are children. I highly recommend this show.
