Summer Is About Less Stress And Don't Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise

The whole time I've been at home during summer, I've been doing significantly lesser than I had in college.

I refuse to feel guilty for that.

I mean, isn't the whole point of summer to take a break from college? That stressful environment, those responsibilities, those hard classes?

It is sad that people who aren't doing very much in the summer (I mean, my summer classes are going to start soon but besides that) are scrutinized for not doing much in general.

Yes, I've been home the whole day and maybe I woke up at 11 am but that is only because I literally have nothing to do today and I just want to relax, it does not mean that this is who I am in college, or to be completely frank, in life.

Summer is about lesser stress, more fun, and just less work. It is about sleeping in and having days where you stay in bed and meeting friends and staying in bed with them.

Sure, it can be about that internship and your career, and those summer classes, but you are not less if you don't want to do that this summer.

When we go out in the real world aka after college, there aren't any summer breaks in particular so just remember that before you go and think a little bit harshly about that person who is just at home during summer.

It is completely okay to want a break. As a college student, our lives are filled with deadlines and stress, and I'm sure that it is going to be even more stressful while working later so it is okay to relax for a bit.

So, yes go out with your friends and tell them about how fun and horrible college is and do absolutely nothing.

When you come back to college for the fall? It is ok to tell people that you went home during the summer.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
