All those who are right-handed go through their daily routine not noticing the small things that lefties find irritating. I think it's funny when right-handers say, "I didn't know you are a lefty!" Yes, this is a phrase all left-handers hear. Some people act like were some kind of rare species or something. I can hear Steve Irwin saying, "Look over there. We got a wild lefty. Let's take a closer look at how lefties eat and use scissors."
In my opinion, I would never change my dominant hand. Sure, sometimes kitchen appliances and school supplies assume I am right-handed, but that's okay. Baseball and golf gloves do not consider left-handers. Yes, we may write, kick and throw in a different way, but we do the same things right-handers do. Here are some tips for left-handed people to start off the school year on the right note.
1. For a lefty, finding a suitable desk in a lecture hall is like playing a game of Where's Waldo.
If you haven't learned how to write on a right-hander's desk, good luck. I would recommend arriving to class early at the odd chance that you will find a left-hander's desk.

2. Finding a pen that doesn't leave ink on a lefty's pinky takes practice.
Use black ink pens to reduce the access ink on your palm. It is always useful to use pens that are not gel based.
3. Lefties can never leave a notebook in the spiral of a binder.
Take loose leaf or your notebook out of the spiral binder and place it on the top of the binder to write notes. This way your hand doesn't hurt from hitting the spiral in the binder. You can also purchase notebooks with spirals on the top. this would avoid any confrontation with the spiral.
4. Scissors are just a bad invention.
Practice using scissors with your right hand and hope for the best. No one is going to the store to specifically find those left hand scissors.
5. White boards make me nervous.
Angle your hand when writing on a white board. This will avoid wiping off what you already wrote.
6. Elbow fights.
Make sure there is enough elbow room when sitting next to someone who is right-handed to avoid any injuries.
7. When holding up your phone becomes exercise.
I would recommend laying on your stomach when using your cell phone. That way you won't have to do arm exercises to get to the dock of your phone or drop your phone on your face when trying to hold it with your right hand.
I have mad respect for all left-handers. We take it to new levels to have a happy and peaceful school year. Fight on, my friends.
