When you go from high school to college, there are many things that change. The friends you have is just one example. Sometimes, no matter how hard to try you do not keep your high school friends. I have a few friends who I thought would one day be in my wedding, but after high school we just stopped talking, with no explanation or reason. If I were able to talk to these friends I left at high school I would have many things to say to them. I would thank them for being there for me through some of the roughest parts of my life. I would also tell them that I missed them and missed being able to talk to them on a day-to-day basis.
When you go on to new places in your life, you lose friends and if your lucky make some more great friends. But sometimes when you leave the friends you do lose are not truly good friends. I also had a few of those that stopped talking to me once high school was over and we all went our separate ways. I can honestly say that these are the friends that I do not miss being around them everyday. These are the friends that you were only friends with because you were around them everyday.
No matter how hard you try you will always lose friends. Sometimes it is uncontrollable. But there is a positive side to losing friends. You get to make new friends. Sometimes the new friends you make re going to be the ones who remain your friends for years to come. Losing friends may not be one of the greatest feelings in the world, but it is something we all must go through.
I wish that I was still friends with some people I graduated with, but sometimes there is no explanation as to why we are not friends any longer. We tried to stay in touch, called each other and sent several texts, but we just faded. There was nothing I could do to remain friends, the time had come for us to go our separate ways. Maybe when we have our high school reunion, we will get together and have lots of fun and reminiscence about the past.
