10 Important Tips To Survive College
  1. Go to class:

It really is nice when teachers don’t have mandatory attendance and all that, but you should still go to class. A lot of time teachers put questions on tests from what thy said or showed you in class.

2. Make Friends in your classes:

We all tend to stick to the same group of friends we have. Get out of your comfort zone and make some friends. Get their number so You can ask them what u missed in class if you get sick one day or have an emergency. Even though some Professors are understanding of our life outside college, they really don’t want to waste their time catching you up with what you missed.

3. Meet your professors:

From a small class to a big lecture hall, make sure you introduce yourself to your professor. It would be great if you come up with questions and make an appointment with them to meet but if you can’t fit that in your schedule then a simple “ Hi, my name is ___ and I am excited to be in your class” at the end of class would do it. It’s not a lot to do but it can show a lot about you.

4. Know your due dates and meet your deadlines:

It is easy to fall behind but it’s not that hard to keep up with your assignments. Don’t leave your work to the last day. Set your priorities and take responsibilities for your action. It’s okay to miss out on a specific event to get a good grade.

5. Invest in a Planner:

Having a planner will keep you on track. You can always have it in your backpack and pull it out every time you remember something u need to do. Google calendar can be a great alternative if you are on your phone most of the time. Your phone can be helpful if you out it into use

6. Get rested:

From time to time we all need to pull an all-nighter to finish that five pages’ essay. Just don’t make a habit out of it. The sleep you get during the night can give u double the energy that u get from sleeping in daylight. So make sure to get a goodnight sleep.

7. Get involved:

College is more than just going to class and taking notes. Although that is important, you should definitely have a social life. Find a club or an organization that you are interested in and join it. You will make tons of friends and you will have things to keep u busy in your free time

8. Set your schedule wisely:

Do not cram all your classes in two or three days to get the rest of the days off. It might seem easier because you will have more free time but it will kill you and make your life miserable. You are here for the whole college experience, why try and trim down the days?

9. Don't go crazy:

College can be wild sometimes. You will always have the opportunity to go to a party or get drunk or something. It’s not wrong to have fun or celebrate but it’s wrong when you lose the balance. Keep your mind set and fight temptations.

10. Mange your time and money:

Set study time for yourself. Don’t wait until you are free to do your homework, instead make time for it. Also, keep track of your money, save receipts and set a budget for each month. And don’t forget to TREAT YOURSELF because you deserve it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
