Freshman or not, every Ithaca College student knows that the town of Ithaca has some incredible restaurants with plenty of variety. Did you know that Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than New York City? With so many options, it can be overwhelming. Everyone knows the go-to restaurants for when your family and friends come to visit you at school. Some of the students' favorite restaurants include the Ithaca Ale House, Collegetown Bagels, Dolce Delight, Mahogany Grill, Waffle Frolic, State Diner and plenty more.
However, what about when it's late at night, all of those places have closed, you've been studying all day, and you need a late night bite to eat? Or what if you just went out with your friends, and you're starving because you haven't eaten since dinner? Here are some great places to get your fix that don't close until the wee hours of the morning.
1. Sammy's Pizzeria: Closes at 2 a.m.
Of course, I had to start with every bar-hopping IC student's favorite place to eat. Sammy's has an incredible variety of Italian food. Some best-sellers according to their website are the cheese pizza, chicken wings, the bomber sub and the garlic knots. Sammy's also has an order online option where you can either go pick it up or have it delivered if you don't have a car on campus.
2. Luna Inspired Street Food: Closes at 1:30 a.m.
This one might be still unfamiliar to a lot of IC students since it is new and is located in Collegetown. However, it's only about a five-minute drive from the Ithaca College campus. If you haven't heard of this new, wildly popular restaurant, you should definitely check it out. Their menu was inspired by "street vendors, carts and trucks from across the country and the globe." Their menu is incredibly large, but some favorites are the Cornell chicken taco, Smoked gouda mac & cheese (a personal favorite), boneless wings, Philly steak sandwich and their various types of pizzas. They also serve many different salads, including a Cornell chicken salad. They also offer many different vegetarian options as well.
3. D.P. Dough: Closes at 2 a.m. Sunday to Tuesday, 3 a.m. Wednesday to Saturday
If you've never had D.P. Dough, you're missing out. They're menu mostly consists of calzones, but basically every flavor of calzone you could imagine. They have chicken, steak and even vegetarian calzones. In addition to this, they also have chicken wings, tater tots and breadsticks. You can pick up your order, but they also offer deliveries.
4. Jimmy John's: Closes at 3 a.m.
Like almost every college town across America, Ithaca has a conveniently located Jimmy John's. If Italian food isn't your thing then you should definitely check out Jimmy John's. If you're unaware of what the offer here's a hint: think of any sandwich you could ever want, and they have it. They offer plain slims, club sandwiches, 8'' subs and also a sandwich concocted by the company itself: The J.J. Gargantuan. It has genoa salami, ham, capicola, roast beef, turkey and provolone cheese, onions, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and Italian dressing. The restaurant is located right on meadow street by Chipotle!
5. Sub Connection: Closes at 1 a.m.
What if you don't want to go anywhere to get food late at night or don't have the money to pay for delivery? Ithaca College has a sub connection location located in towers. They offer a variety of subs, salads and pizza. You can also purchase different types of chips as well. The great thing about getting your late-night snack here is that you can use your Ithaca college bonus bucks to pay!
