Make America Great Again

If we are ever going to be "great" again, we need more Jesus in the USA.

No, this is not 500 words on why I support Trump. This is 500 words on what “Making America Great Again” should mean.

“Great” is not waking up to another shooting on the news. “Great” is not another riot taking over another city. “Great” is not hating others for their political views. “Great” is not taking the men and women that protect this country and our freedom for granted. “Great” is not a president or a politician.

“Great” is God.

The Declaration of Independence anchors the truth that all of our rights come from God. The Pledge of Allegiance states that we are one nation under God. The money in your wallet says, “In God We Trust.” Our country was founded on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christianity plays such a huge role in our nations history. So what has happened?

The Bible has been taken out of public schools. The words “under God” have been removed from various schools, events, our Pledge of Allegiance, etc. Students can get harassed for expressing their faith. The name of God is used as more of a curse word than the name of our Lord and Savior. People have lost hope in our country. Pornography floods social media; movies portray murder, drug abuse, and sexual assault. But it’s alright, since they’re rated PG-13.

Wake up, America.

We wonder why we have violence. We wonder why we wake up to another shooting. We wonder why we don’t have peace in our nation.

Jesus is no longer a focal point of this nation. We are exposing this negativity through music, television, social media and movies. Children are not being taught the word of God in school. Prayer is not popular. Church is “optional” and “not the only way to become a Christian.” But nothing else is being done in its place.

We must do something.

We have millions of things to be grateful for, but we act as if we don’t have enough. Our vision has been blurred as we look through a lens of distraction, lost trust and the chaos of the world.

In the United States, we have so much. So much food, so much water, so many huge homes, so many nice cars, so much money, so many resources. But we do not have enough Jesus.

God does not want it to be this way. God does not enjoy seeing war, mass murder and the constant negativity that we see daily. We must trust God, for He has a plan for this beautiful country, and we cannot take that for granted.

Amidst the violence, the hatred and the chaos, find Jesus. Be Jesus. Stand up for what our country once stood for. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Love others. Expand the kingdom of God, because, let me tell you, it only takes one. And with God on your side, who can be against you?

No one. Not a single soul.

Remember what our founding fathers believed in, remember who our nation is under, remember the foundation of this country and remember who created this whole, entire earth.

“Great” is equality. “Great” is peace. “Great” is trust. “Great” is God.

This country was made to be great, but the only one that can truly make America great again is Jesus Christ.

“For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.” (1 Chronicles 16:25)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
