"American Horror Story: Roanoke" has been one crazy ride all season long, and with the finale next week, fans will see how it all ends. The preview for next week’s big ending already looks extremely promising with the return of fan-favorite character Lana Winters. Lana was played by Sarah Paulson and was the main character in the show’s second season, "Asylum." But what could the return of such a popular character like Lana mean for the show? Spoilers ahead so read at your own risk!
All season long fans have been completely engrossed in the show’s new type of storytelling, particularly the “found footage” style. It offers a much more personal side of the characters and fans can develop a better connection with them as well. So it was especially hard to see nearly all of them go. The show stated that everyone would die except for one and we found out who the survivor was in the latest episode. “Real person” Lee, played by Adina Porter, was the last one left. And with her survival, this season linked back to the previous season, "Asylum," as Lee is set to be interviewed on Lana Winters’ talk show. For those that aren’t familiar with this dynamic, show creator Ryan Murphy has said that all the seasons are connected in some way so this is just another piece of the puzzle.
This isn’t the first connection Roanoke makes to the other seasons, however. There’s that crazy theory going around saying that the first five episodes each have one connection to the corresponding previous season. For example, Chapter 4 introduced us to Edward Philippe Mott, who is a clear ancestor of Season 4 "Freakshow " killer Dandy Mott. And now that we’ve seen the plot twist episode, Chapter 6 , that theory seems to have been true after all.
Since all the seasons are connected and there’s a confirmed connection in the finale, there’re many questions a lot of fans have: what other connections might be in the finale? Will other characters from "Asylum" appear again? How exactly does this interview fit on the timeline of events in "Asylum"? Will Jessica Lange ever be seen again? Could characters from other seasons appear too? Sadly, it seems that we’ll just have to wait for the answers to all these questions until the finale airs Wednesday, November 16th.
