Summer concert and festival season is finally upon us. Packing can be difficult, and it's easy to over-pack or under-pack. Packing the right things make us ladies worry free. If you are heading to a festival, here are some essentials that you will definitely need.
1. Sea salt spray
If you do decide to use showers, and want a quick easy hairstyle, try some sea salt texturizing spray. I love Not Your Mother’s sea salt texturizing spray. It gives you that “I didn't try, but kinda tried” bohemian vibe hair. Added plus: it smells like fresh coconuts, which helps mask that festival dirt!
It's hard to predict beforehand what the weather conditions are going to be like during the festival. Who knows, it could be hot, humid, rainy or better yet, perfect weather. In the event of crappy weather, always have a pack of hair ties on you or one on your wrist. Hair ties and headbands have become my saving grace on a hot day to avoid strands of hair sticking to the back of my neck. Headbands keep the sweat from coming down your forehead and also come in super fun patterns to add some extra style to your outfit.
3. Oil absorbing sheets
Oil absorbing sheets are one of my favorite creations. Have you ever done perfect matte makeup and by the end of the day it's melted off of your face in an oily mess? Oil absorbing wipes do a great job of removing oil, bringing that matte look back. I know festivals aren't all about looking good, but its not fun looking back at shiny pictures.
If you are looking for a no makeup kinda look, BB cream is an essential. I think it is great for festivals because it lightly evens out skin tones, while adding a little sun protection. I love a BB cream that adds a little healthy glow, without the feeling of heavy makeup. Application is super quick, so you can throw it on right before heading to hear your favorite band!
5. Dry shampoo
Dry shampoo is in the running for one of my favorite things on this list. Ladies, i'm sure you've been told hundreds of times that washing your hair everyday is a no-go. It strips your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dull and dry. Thank god for dry shampoo. At outdoor shows, dirt and grease builds up fast, and I don't know about you, but I want to spend as little time in festival showers as possible. Instead of shampooing, I always use dry shampoo for a quick refresh to take away any grease, and plus, it adds some nice volume. Dry shampoo comes in scented and unscented, and for festivals,I like to go with that fresh scent.
I don’t like to admit this, but I am very guilty of Snapchatting during concerts. It’s easy to get super carried away when back to back favorite songs come on. Unfortunately, this completely drains phone batteries. When you don't have access to charging stations, portable phone chargers are awesome for bringing life back to your phone. Happy Snapping!!
7. Baby wipes
Baby wipes are great for a quick wipe down after dancing and baking in the sun for hours. Buy a pack of them and throw some in a ziplock bag to bring into the festival. Showering two times a day isn't really ideal at festivals, so baby wipes are a great substitute.
Water! Staying hydrated is so important. Feeling sick is so not fun, especially when your favorite band is about to hit the main stage. Pick up a reusable water bottle before you head out. This eliminates extra costs of buying water bottles, and helps the environment. Most festivals will have fountains to fill up bottles.
I love good sunnies to cover up my face and to jazz up my outfits. Weird sunglasses are in, so take a chance and try a new pair. Mirrored, colored and circles are some of my favorites. Plus, who wants to squint the whole day?
Keep a couple bars with you always. You never know when you’re gonna get hungry, and chances are that when you do, you'll be stuck in the pit. If you are feeling tired and faint, snack on these babies to bring you back. If you keep some bars, you won't have to spend as much money buying food at the vendors.
11. Mini disposable toothbrushes
When my teeth are clean, I feel clean. Disposable toothbrushes are great for a quick refresh. Use them after eating anywhere and anytime. Also, who knows you might want to keep your breath fresh on hopes of meeting cute boys.
12. A good spirit
The last essential is a good spirit. Nobody likes a Debby Downer. Be open to hearing new bands and trying new experiences, and allow yourself to have a good time. Smile, even in the heat and exhaustion. You did not pay all that money on your ticket to have a bad time.
