This past weekend was my birthday, and my lovely sister got me one of the coolest gifts ever. For all those who are just as beauty-obsessed as I am, I bet you can guess what it is. I received the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit, specifically in the shade "Posie K."
Now, for those who are not up to speed on this product, let me give you the lowdown. Kylie Jenner (part of the Kardashian crew) released a cosmetics line which includes liquid lipsticks and lip liners in a variety of colors. They range from a rich red to a frosted pink, and the package includes both the lipstick and the liner in coordinating colors. Recently, there has been some controversy surrounding the packaging and formula of the lip kits, with makeup gurus such as Jeffrey Star calling Kylie out for it. The claims are that the exact same formula is used in competing liquid lipsticks such as ColourPop. While no solid proof has come of this claim, it still had plenty of people wondering, "Is it really worth the almost $30 price tag?"
I'm here to tell you that it is worth it. If you want a high quality lip product that will actually hold up to its claims of longevity, then pick this up right now. While I've only tried the more mauve-toned neutral ("Posie K"), there are many shades to choose from now.
If you're into the original matte liquid lipsticks, there's: "Exposed" (neutral tan), "True Brown K" (dark brown) "Kourt K"(deep purple), "Candy K" (nude beige), "Dolce K" (dark nude), "KoKo K" (rose neutral), "Mary Jo K" (daed) and "22" (brighter orange-red). For those who love gloss: "Like" (brown nude), "Literally" (tanned neutral) and "So Cute" (peach nude) - and they're all about half the price of the originals at only $15. Her latest launch were for metals (metallic lipsticks at $18 each) which included: "King K" (bronze glitter), "Heir" (peachy-pink glitter), and "Reign" (terracotta/burgundy glitter).
If you're still skeptical, I understand. I was to at first because I'm not the hugest fan of Kylie's overdrawn/filled-up lips. My worries were put to rest when I realized that she designed these shades to be wearable for anyone, not just people around her age and skin tone. Also, it won't automatically inflate your lips or make them look exactly like Kylie's, which is a relief if you're not used to a super-sized pout.
It does however give you a great long-lasting color and is surprisingly easy to use, even for makeup novices. Simply open the lip liner and trace the outside of your lips first. Then apply a little bit of the liquid lipstick on your lips. The product does not set right away, so you can still maneuver it with your fingers to sheer out the color if needed. Once it does set after a few seconds though, it does not budge. I've worn mine to work a few times and it's lasted through my water sips and sandwiches at lunch. It's totally worth the money and you're getting a wonderful product to add to your makeup arsenal.rk r
