Kombucha has got to be my new favorite drink. I get them in bulk, and every time I'm out I always stock up on a few extra. It makes me feel so good and I wondered why. I knew it was super healthy, but I decided to do some research on it and I love what I found. So here are some reasons as to why you should fall in love with Kombucha.

My favorite go-to Kombucha to drink is Brew Dr. Kombucha. It comes in a cute little bottle and tastes amazing. I get it in a six pack from Costco. Yeah, I'm a Kombuchaholic.

The ingredients are very simple and natural. Most bottles contain the same main ingredients. I listed some of my favorite BDK flavors and ingredients so that you can see how simple each bottle is.

Clear mind contains: Filtered Water, Organic Green Tea, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Rosemary, Organic Peppermint, Organic Sage, Organic Dandelion Root, Live Probiotic Culture

Lemon Ginger Cayenne: Filtered Water, Organic Green Tea, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Ginger, Organic Lemongrass, Organic Cayenne Pepper, Organic Lemon Balm, Live Probiotic Culture

Love: Filtered Water, Organic Jasmine Green Tea, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Lavender, Organic Chamomile, Organic Damiana, Organic Rose, Live Probiotic Culture

SuperBerry: Filtered Water, Organic Oolong Tea, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Currants, Organic Elderberry, Organic Hibiscus, Organic Rose Hips, Live Probiotic Culture

As I researched Kombucha, I found six reasons why this stuff is so good for you.

1. Detoxification

The detoxifying capacity of kombucha is immense. A perfect example is in its ability to counteract liver cell toxicity.

2. Digestion

Kombucha supports digestion because of its high levels of beneficial acid, probiotics and enzymes.

3. Energy

Formation of iron is released from the black tea during the fermentation process. It also contains some caffeine (although in very small amounts) and b-vitamins, which energizes the body.

Through a special process known as chelation, the iron released helps boost blood hemoglobin, improving oxygen supply to tissues and stimulating the energy-producing process at the cellular level. In other words, by helping the body create more energy (ATP), the tea can help those who regularly drink it stay energized.

4. Immune health

The overall effect that kombucha has to modulate the immune system is best seen in its ability to control antioxidant measures.

5. Cancer prevention

Kombucha is also beneficial for cancer prevention and recovery. A study published in Cancer Letters found that consuming glucaric acid found in kombucha reduced the risk of cancer in humans.

6. Weight loss

Data from a study in 2005 showed evidence that Kombucha improves metabolism and limits fat accumulation.

All of these reasons rock. There is not one outcome from drinking Kombucha that is bad for you. Drinking it can only be positive.

Drink on!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
