You know you're the oldest child when...

It's a blessing and a curse at the same time

You know you're the oldest child when...

1. You get blamed for literally everything

Even if you are the one that gets punched, you still take the blame because your sibling "doesn't know any better" or "learned it from you." Little siblings always like to point fingers at you, and, unfortunately, their methods usually work.

2. Your sibling got everything earlier than you did

I got a phone in 7th grade, she got one in 5th. I got a laptop in 9th, she got one in 6th. The list goes on and on. Parents drag out your benchmarks because they do not want the first born to grow up, but once the second comes around, they realize their over-exaggeration. But really, who's keeping count?

3. Going somewhere? Take your sibling

Little siblings love to hang out with your friends, but you would not be caught dead with hers. Your parents support this activity too! If you take the car out to go shopping, they will badger you about being inclusive and how "your sister needs to get out of the house too."

4. You had to keep the Santa secret for a while

If you are type-A and need definite answers like I do, you found out the truth about Old Saint Nic around 2nd grade. Meanwhile, your sibling believed until 5th grade. For 6 whole years I had to keep my mouth shut!! Lord knows my parents would be enraged if I told her.

5. The second you turned 16, you were suddenly responsible for driving your sibling EVERYWHERE

I will forever be on call as a chauffeur for my sister. Whether it be to school in the morning or to a store, her attendance lies in my hands. The worst part is driving to her friend's house all the way across town.

6. Babysitting duty comes before everything else

I remember one instance when my friends and I had been planning a dinner date for weeks in advance. But, somehow the 'rents neglected to inform me they were going out of town until an hour beforehand. My plans took a sharp turn and I was stuck babysitting for the rest of the night.

7. Your sibling has lower standards

Dear sibling, YOU'RE WELCOME!! I'm glad I was able to be the guinea pig and screw up all the time so your mistakes slid easier past Mom and Dad's radar. You could make double the number of my mistakes and still only have half the punishment.

8. Instead of watching MTV you were forced to watch Disney Channel

Don't get me wrong, I worshipped Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana as much as the next person. But once I got older, I wanted to watch the cool middle schooler shows, like Degrassi and Secret Life of an American Teenager. The only thing stalling my ambition was the third grader I lived with. It's safe to say that one television and two kids do not mix well.

9. There is a constant copy cat over your shoulder

If you were obsessed with T-Swift, so was your sibling. If you played a sport, your sibling played the same one. Even non materialistic things, like catch phrases or silly sayings mysteriously made their way out of your siblings mouth. It's just proof of how much time you spend together.

10. At the end of the day, you would never miss an opportunity to stand up for your sibling

Even though you aren't the favorite child, you would still bend over backwards to help a brother out. Attacks and rude comments made about your sibling are taken VERY personally, and you're always ready to take down a bully. You may fight and bicker, but in the end you love your sibling more than anything else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
