You Know Your Mom Is Your Best Friend When...

Happy Mother's Day to my other half.

You Know Your Mom Is Your Best Friend When...

She's the Lorelai to your Rory. She probably knows you better than you know yourself. She's there with unconditional love for you. She's not just your mom, because she also doubles as your best friend.

1. You know what each other is thinking

Probably without ever having to open your mouth. You have some strange mother-daughter telepathy that works wonders. Dad probably gets jealous or weirded out.

2. You have the same thoughts on different family members

The both of you agree on what family members to hate, which ones to love, and which ones are just flat out weirdoes.

3. You call her when anything happens in your life

You think you just failed a test. Call mom. A biker almost hit you while you were walking to class. Call mom. You ate the most amazing muffin today. Call mom. Big things and little things, it doesn’t matter, your mom is your first call. She’s basically on speed dial…if that’s still a thing.

4. She’s your go-to shopping buddy

And not just because you think there’s a high chance she’ll buy you things. But her opinions, though brutally honest at points, really do help.

5. She gives you the best advice

It’s advice that you actually take…or at least deeply consider taking. She’s realistic and knows exactly what to say no matter the situation.

6. You can tell her anything without ever feeling judged

You want to share some super gross information with her, she won't judge. Or maybe a really embarrassing thing happened to you, she won't judge. She'll probably share something in return because that's just how great your relationship is.

7. She’s your #1 fan

In sports and in life. She's at every single one of your games, competitions or events, whether she wants to be or not because she knows it's important to you. She's your biggest supporter in everything. It's like having a personal cheerleader.

8. She'll always defend you

She's got your back no matter what. You're her baby and her motherly instincts will surely kick in if something ever happens to you. Thanks for always fighting off the bad guys, mom.

9. You share shoes...and maybe clothes

If you wear the same size, congrats, because you have an even bigger wardrobe now. Another perk is that it might be easier to convince her to buy you something if you say you'll share it. There are just so many perks to being the same size as your mom.

10. She just accepts your sass

Remember, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Your mom is most likely the source of where you got your sass from, so you better expect some sass in return.

11. She knows how to get you do something

She needs you to do her a favor and she knows just how to get you to agree. It’s like a mom's version of brainwashing, but it's better because you’ll probably get something good out of it as well.

12. You begin to realize you are basically a mini-version of her

If your mom is basically your other half, of course you are going to be just like her. Go ahead and scream, but is that really such a bad thing?

Thank you, mom, for being my main supporter in life. Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for being such a great role model and mom all these years. Most importantly, thank you for doubling as my best friend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
